We saw an opportunity to leverage our collective experience in supply chain logistics and intelligent software agents to build an  situation awareness platform. While it is possible to gather together piece-parts* of a solution, we observed that a considerable amount of custom code was also required. And not everybody had particular blend of skills. These factors contributed to often significant overruns or even abandoned in-house projects.

We also saw the opportunity to create a multi-purpose platform that could be configured to meet the widest possible business needs – from item tracking to security surveillance to anti-terrorism. Frankly speaking our was any event-centric use case. We knew it had to perform in real-time and we also knew it needed to be able to extend over multiple enterprises (e.g. a supply chain).

So with this in mind we created 6D™. It took us over 10,000 man days to build 6D™ to meet our primary goals:  ubiquity,  configurability and extensibility without loss of performance. The result is a solution that is over 90% turnkey and one that typically beats in-house projects time-to-value by a factor of 10:1. Our clients typically find they are able to see quantifiable value in a matter of weeks or sometimes days.
